History of Red Alert
Illinois State has always had a history of dedicated student fans. Our Traditions page is proof of that history. "Red Alert" is simply the latest name for the passionate group of individuals who aid our teams to victory. Before the 2006-2007 Redbird Athletics season, Illinois State students were able to purchase "All Sport" passes, which allowed entry into every game during the season. In 2006, the Athletic Department renamed the pass "Red Alert," and an informal group of student fans emerged with the same name. In the Spring of 2007, students decided to make the Red Alert name official by forming an RSO (Registered Student Organization). The RSO consists of nearly every student who holds a Red Alert pass, and is run by students on the executive board.
